Animal Services

If someone has an emergency, is reporting an in-progress crime, and/or is the victim or witness to an animal attack (of a person) please, call 911 immediately!

About

Animal Services patrols the city looking for stray and lost animals, responding to animal complaints, and enforcing state and city animal control ordinances. The operation differs from other area municipalities in that it operates its own animal control facility.

Havelock Animal Services will shelter and feed all captured animals for up to 3 business days, excluding weekends and city holidays. There are many benefits of this program, the biggest being that citizens do not have to travel the 28-mile round trip to the county pound in New Bern to claim an animal that has been picked up.

Non-Emergency Calls

The non-emergency phone number is not staffed 24 hours a day. If you reach voicemail, please leave a message and someone will contact you.
